I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas season. As another year is coming to an end, we always like to reminisce about all the things that have happened through the year. We have had quite a year, and 2012 will be even bigger…but hopefully it will make me smaller. Anyhow, as I was reminiscing about the year that is coming to a close, I couldn’t help but think about the 12 days of Christmas Chronicles of a wife style to help put the last year in perspective.

On the 12 days of Christmas my true love gave to me…

12 mortgage payments

11 pounds of apple

10 million loads of laundry

9 cans a brimming

8 guns a laying

7 pants a hanging

6 chicks a grazing

We’re having TWINS!!??!!!

4 tomato plants

3 bushes whacked

2 gutted pheasants in the garage

And my husband in a pear tree!!!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are so blessed by our wonderful family and friends who are like family! The twins are looking forward to their first Thanksgiving dinner. I hope they love mashed potatoes as much as I do…or at least let me enjoy them and go easy on the heartburn.

I am thankful for MG and how he makes every day…umm…interesting. I love you, MG, but do you think you could remove the shotgun and pheasant wing from the counter so I can sanitize it and make my jello salad??? Thanks.

Hi Everyone! Sorry for the lapse in blogging…I have been busy doing laundry!

This is MG’s new favorite shirt. And yes, it is clean. Fresh out of the dryer. I am making a new laundry rule that everyone’s clothes get their own separate laundry time because I feel like when I wash clothes they only come out dirtier. Is that even possible? How do one man’s clothes get so dirty? I think I would like my own private washer and dryer for Christmas…

Something is Overflowing…

Well, something is definitely overflowing at our house. The trash has become a battle of the wills at our house. It is the first thing we see when we walk in through the garage and the last thing we see before we leave. And still, it never seems to bother either one of us enough to take the trash out. Plus, you can always squeeze one more thing in there, right??

Twinspiration

Lately, I have been thinking that I need to get a little twinspiration. I am not a twin myself, or have any twins close to me, but God has blessed me with having twins, and eventually they will be here! So, I’ve decided to start eating things to help give me the twin vibe. And I might even get good name ideas. So this week I started with…Mike and Ike.

Next week I’m thinking some Ben & Jerry’s will be good. Any other suggestions??

Wheat!

The other day, MG started yelling from outside. He summoned me to bring the camera and bring him a shirt. Now, I must say these are two things that NEVER happen! He never requests to put more clothes on, and usually I am begging him to let me take a picture of whatever he is doing. I came running outside to find him making wheat…just like the bible times. He was rather excited to show me what he had done.

Well, the crop was small, but the potential is huge. And if wheat is the new gold, then we are going to be living high on the hog!

Well, we stopped at Long John Silver’s while taking a road trip the other day. The cashiers wondered if my “mate” was always this silly…(insert me sarcastically laughing here).

I don’t think I have eaten at LJS in years, but saw an ad with coupons in the paper and just had to stop. I don’t think I will be doing that again for a while…

I Smell Victory

I will admit that lately the breath of life has not been my friend. Ever since I was plagued with morning sickness, I have not really enjoyed the smell of anything…especially the smell of my kitchen and laundry room. I usually get out of my car and hold my breath as I dash through the garage all the way through the house. This isn’t good for my home life, since most of my chores are done in the kitchen and laundry room.

Well, all my brain cells aren’t dead yet. This little contraption helped me get a good half hour of work done the other day. Sickness…you will not control me…this time!

You say tomato, I say enough!

I wouldn’t say I have necessarily been a fruitful vine within my house lately. I am more like a dying, withering vine these days. I feel sick most of the time…ok, I take that back. I do not feel sick when I am sleeping. And now, precious sleep hours are interrupted with frequent bathroom trips, back pain and leg cramps and heart burning hiccups. I love tomatoes and have always loved them. Being pregnant, I don’t love much of anything anymore. Thanks to MG’s amazing gardening abilities, I feel like I am living in the V8 factory. Tomatoes are everywhere. They are all over the yard, and all over the kitchen counters…everywhere!

The other day I managed to do a load of laundry. I was doing a load of towels and went to put them into the dryer. As I reached my hand in to grab a handful of wet towels, instead I got a wet, soggy tomato on the end of my finger. Not quite what I was expecting to find. It must have been hiding in one of the kitchen towels. Oh, garden I am starting to despise, you have taken victory once again. Fall…when are you coming??

Something happened at the Goebel house yesterday that I have been waiting for for awhile. MG is an outside machine. He has devoted most of his summer spare time into making our backyard a giant farmer’s market. With being pregnant in my first trimester this summer, I just walk around in a state of sickness. Air makes me nauseous and when I walk in the garage I dry heave. So, the front of the house, which is more my department, has been neglected a little this summer…ok a lot. Flowers are dying, weeds are living and bushes are getting a little out of control.

So, when MG comes in all dirty and sweaty to tell me his next project, which usually involves planting some kind of vegetable that makes me nauseous or raising some kind of livestock, I have tried to be supportive and drop little hints about trimming the bushes. I feel embarrassed sometimes when people drive by. They probably wonder what kind of people live there.

Well, this weekend my hopes and dreams came true. It finally happened. MG bought us our very own trimmer and on Sunday afternoon it happened. He told me to rest and that he was going to go pick tomatoes and…and… trim the bushes. Woo hoo! The three words I had been longing to hear. I took a little nap and thought I would go out and check on the progress. When I went outside, I was somehow hoping that I was still sleeping…but it wasn’t a dream. So much for being embarrassed when people drive by…
